Chigusa X Ryou

JUST PEACHY
  At the end of school, Ryou Misaki was casually marching to the exit of the school building, when he spotted a familiar girl. From his grade, her name was Chigusa Kusaka. A very quiet girl who seemed to have a sign on her forehead that said ‘UBER LOSER’ although Ryou thought she was pretty, and never deserved the harsh treatments.
  She was in front of one of the vending machines scanning her choices. She gripped a five-dollar bill (or yen or whatever) like she knew it was going to be snatched away unmercifully. Ryou had half-expected to see that happen to her, no matter what his personal opinion.
  A few other guys were by the machines too, hitting one that wasn’t cooperating.
“Shit man, this one is always broken.”
They looked over at Chigusa with her 5, as if she were a lioness that clutched a piece of zebra hide and they were hyenas, ready to steal it.
“Hey guys,”
One whispered.
“Check out the ditz. It’s Kusaka.”
“You thinking what I’m thinking?”
The lioness was unaware as the hyena plotted. Sometimes even the higher food chain suffered, because of the creature all the way at the bottom of the chain- the vending machine. Ryou watched quietly, hoping that poor Chigusa could escape while she could.
“Uh, Chigusa san?”
A guy asked. She looked over, a little startled.
“Kuroshin san...uh, yes?”
“Would you mind lending me a hand? This machine is screwing me over and it took my last dollar. Could you help out?”
She knew that was coming.
“Oh, all I have is this five.”
Being the kind-hearted, naive, and gullible girl she is, she literally handed over the hard-earned zebra to the slobbering hyena.       
“Ah, I’m gonna go use the vending machines on the other end of the wing and bring back the change  okay?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Thanks! Stay right there.”
“Okay.”
She watched them run off, almost smiling through her dark bangs that shrouded her face. For a few minutes with no results. Then the school intercom gave an announcement that all students had to leave the building in the next five minutes.
She’d been duped.
She soon realized that, and sighed about to leave. Ryou came towards Chigusa-
and swept past her towards the soda machine. He inserted his money and selected the newest flavor. When she nearly turned down a hall, he called
“Chigusa chan!”
She stopped to look at him.
“Misaki san?”
“Catch.”
He tossed her the soda can and she quickly caught it.
“Huh!?”
“Newest flavor. “Peachy Banzai”.”
He said with a laugh in his voice.
“B-but I-”
“Take it. And when I see those guys again, I’ll kick em in the face for you, kay?”
“Misaki san..uh..I.”
She clutched the Peachy Banzai.
“Thank you!”
When she looked up her bangs swept out of her eyes and she had a smile that maade Ryou blush.
“Ah, it’s nothin really. I’m a sucker for a damsel in distress.”
“Uh...”
He took the can and popped it open for her. Then gave it back.
“Here, try it and tell me if it’s any good.”
She took a small sip.
“It is good!”
Ryou reached out and took it from her, then took a gulp.
“Mmm..that is good!”
He gave it back and Chigusa blushed.
“You-”
(BTW: in Japan, to drink off of someone else’s soda is a big deal!)
“See you later Chigusa chan! Gotta get going!”
He went through the nearest exit to get to his older brother Kite who was losing patience sitting in the parking lot.
Chigusa left the building too, holding the soda.
“Ryou...kun..”
She blushed taking a long gulp of it.
